Entering into Politics - The Story Behind

"Why are you involved in politics?" I think this is the question my family members, friends, and many others will ask.

It's a long story. I am writing this story today to make sure that, if ever, I forget what am I in politics for, it will serve as a reminder.

Part I: The Beginning - Seed of Love

It all started in 2001 with a prayer movement - 40-day Fast and Pray for Malaysia, organized by NECF (National Evangelical Christian Fellowship). I was a first year student in University Technology Petronas (UTP) when I came across this movement. Not knowing why, I felt the urgency to pray for our nation. Since fasting alone for 40 days is no joke, I managed to persuade my best friend (Thin Thin) to fast and pray with me. So that's the beginning of the story - I sowed the seed of deep love for the country and fellow Malaysians. Of course, as I grew in seniority in the university, I managed to persuade more and more campus students to join us to fast and pray for Malaysia every year during the Merdeka season.

STAR first political party to sign TI pledge

Twenty-five potential Sabah STAR election candidates have
signed an integrity pledge by Transparency International.

KOTA KINABALU: Transparency International (TI) has praised the State Reform Party (STAR) for being the first political party in Malaysia to sign an “integrity pledge” to be honourable and incorruptible at the coming general election.

TI-Malaysia president, Paul Low Seng Kuan, said he was happy that STAR has come forward as a group and signed the pledge at its first convention here today, ahead of a crucial general election, due by April next year.

“It is an important step taken to strengthen societal trust in our politicians and our democracy and governance. We must fight corruption as corruption has failed nations,” he said.

On a modest street in a rundown area, Aziz Kara, a 64-year-old Turk, became embroiled in a ferocious argument with his neighbours. When he was struck to the ground, the impact of the blow put him into a coma.

Ten days later Kara died of a brain haemorrhage.In normal circumstances, the death would have preoccupied only the local media.

These days, Musa’s pluses and minuses are the only talking points.

But Musa being the experienced and cunning election strategist he is, has written the role for himself.

He knows that he is smack in the centre of the war zone and is now selling his own virtues and, mind you, has already won over his party and captured the minds of Umno leaders in Kuala Lumpur and the prime minister himself.

KUCHING: When Pakatan Rakyat forms the next government it will investigate all disputed alienation of lands and abuses of power in approving provisional leases over native customary rights (NCR) land to the cronies and family members of Barisan Nasional leaders.

“Definitely, the investigation will also cover provisional leases over NCR land given to [Deputy Chief Minister] Alfred Jabu, his family and cronies,” said Baru Bian, state PKR chief.

Bian did not identify the areas given to Jabu’s family members and his cronies.

KOTA KINABALU: The country is headed for dramatic changes and a sweeping reforms if a loose election pact called United Borneo Alliance (UBA) led by State Reform Party (STAR) is to form the next Sabah state government.

Sabah STAR chairman, Jeffrey Kitingan, promised that if the alliance wins a simple majority in the 60-seat state assembly at the coming general election, the new government would reclaim its rights as a “negara” and an autonomous region with special rights as was originally agreed and not be just one of 13 states of Malaysia as it has evolved.

Najib must undo greatest injustice inflicted by his late father to Sabah, says Dr Jeffrey

KOTA KINABALU : Maverick politician Dr Jeffrey Kitingan said Prime Minister Najib Razak must undo the "greatest injustice" his late father Razak Hussein did in "signing away" Sabah's oil and gas resources to Petronas in 1975.

"How can (then) Prime Minister Razak give away something that does not belong to him as Prime Minister?" Dr Kitingan said at his press conference here Wednesday, showing reporters copies of documents on the issue.

Lajim still a good bet for opposition

KOTA KINABALU: Irrespective of what blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin (RPK) writes and Barisan Nasional leaders reveal, Sabah MP Lajim Ukin is still a good investment for Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim.

Among his constituents and ardent local political observers, the currently much-talked about Beaufort MP may still win big in the coming polls.

They opined that the former federal deputy minister of housing and local government, who jumped from ruling Umno to the opposition side recently, would win in least two parliamentary and three state assembly seats.

STAR to Hold 1st National Convention in Sabah

“The State Reform Party (STAR) will hold its 1st national convention outside Sarawak when STAR Sabah hosts the 2012 National Convention on 6 September 2012 in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah” announced Guandee Kohoi, the Organizing Chairman of theConvention in a press statement released today.

Objectives of the Convention
In the forthcoming 13th General Elections (GE-13) that is expected to be called within the next 6 months, Sabah and Sarawak are expected to be kingmakers in deciding who will form the next federal government in Putrajaya.
