13th General Election demand: Eradicate institutional racism

By Kua Kia Soong
JAN 18 — With the 13th general elections just round the corner, it is time for Malaysians to bring the big issues before the prospective candidates and their parties and to register their commitments to these demands of the Malaysian people. These issues are what the politicians should be debating and each candidate and political party should register their stand on each of these concrete demands. Most of these concrete demands can be delivered very quickly and we will be monitoring closely to see if the candidates/parties carry them out.

Flurry to register BN-friendly Sabah parties

By Luke Rintod of FMT
Top Umno leaders were in town to shore up Umno Sabah and
to make sure more friendly parties are registered quickly.
KOTA KINABALU: Amidst increasing concerns over Umno Sabah’s ability to hold itself together ahead of a defining 13th general election, Home Ministry officials today met with representatives from 12 groups aspiring to register themselves as political parties.

The meeting with the 12 pro-tem presidents and secretaries-general also saw the presence of a deputy minister. This indicates that Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak has given the “green light” for more parties to be registered in Sabah and for this to be done “quickly”.

Malaysia oh poor Malaysia !

By Ahmed Gibran Ubaidullah Song
I am no science buff but remember reading about putting frogs in cold water and then slowly putting the water to a boil. The frogs (unlike the Perak species) will die as they will be unaware of the change in temperature that will ultimately prove fatal.

Dear Malaysian brethren of whatever ilk - we will suffer the same fate as the innocent frogs if we let the country spiral to another Iran or Pakistan.

More new political parties in Sabah?

By Luke Rintod of FMT
Home Ministry officials are set to meet applicants of 12
new political parties in Sabah in what is rumoured to be
Umno's bid to put in place its BN-direct membership process.
KOTA KINABALU: Speculations are rife that Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak is setting in motion his gameplan to contain Umno Sabah and Barisan Nasional’s weakening grip in the state.

It is learnt that he has given the “green light” for more new political parties to be registered in Sabah, where a deeply divided Umno is battling with inner turmoil.

BN is also struggling under relentless attacks over alleged abuse of power, land grabs, unfair federal policies, victimisation and escalating cost of living.

Iran receives a warning letter from U.S. over Hormuz Strait

TEHRAN (Reuters) - Iran said on Sunday it had received a letter from the U.S. government about the Strait of Hormuz, the crucial oil shipping lane that Tehran has threatened to close if sanctions prevent it exporting oil.

UMNO, MIC & MIC

There are three major races in Malaysia. They are the Malay, Chinese and Indian. The Malay has the political power and so they set up the party UMNO which literally means “U Must Not Object”.

While the Chinese controlled the economy and they called their party MCA which means “Money Conquered All”.

Lastly, the Indian who has no say in politic or economics, set up their party called MIC. Hence, every parliamentary meeting the Indians would ask: “Must I Come?”

Give Jeffrey a chance, Sabah Chinese urged

By Luke Rintod of FMT
The maverick politician
may have found the person
he needs to help him win
over a community that
distrusts him for switching
parties too often.
KOTA KINABALU: One of Jeffrey Kitingan’s most difficult tasks as a politician is to win the trust of the Chinese community, and he may have found the help he needs in consumer-rights advocate Ronny Yapp.

Yapp, a respected figure in the community for his work with the now defunct Consumers Association of Sabah and Labuan (Cash), released a media statement yesterday calling on Sabah Chinese to back Jeffrey in his new role as chairman of the Sabah chapter of the State Reform Party (STAR).

Open Letter to Dato Jacob Dungau

Dato Jacob Dungau Sagan
Deputy Minister of International Trade and Industry

Level 15, Block 10,
Government Office Complex,
Jalan Duta,
50622 KUALA LUMPUR.

Dear Datuk,

Because your roots are from Ulu Telang Usan (Long Anap Baram), Antique, I know that you can identify with me and can relate to what I am saying in this letter.

Not too long ago, we tried several attempts to stop timber companies from cutting our trees and ruin our lands. It took every bit of our determination, stamina, and courage to take the matters in our own hand without your support. Now, while we are still healing from the battle scars from our encounter with blockages, we are yet again facing another bigger enemy on CM Taib Mahmud and his cronies’ plan that wants to flood the entire upper Telang Usan for the “The Baram Dam”.
