Invitation to the MCLM forums on Rakyat Reform Agenda (RARA)

The Malaysian Civil Liberties Movement (MCLM) have successfully launched its series of forums to be held nationwide on the Rakyat Reform Agenda on 19th September 2011 in Kuala Lumpur at the Kuala Lumpur Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall (KLSCAH).

It is MCLMs fervent hope that in order for Malaysia to be the great inclusive nation envisioned by our founding fathers, we must return to basic principles.

How will we achieve this? The answer - Through the Rakyat Reform Agenda (RARA), which is a four-point plan to:

Ÿ  Honour the agreements made in 1963 between the Federation of Malaya and Sabah and Sarawak prior to the formation of the Federation of Malaysia
Ÿ  Restore the national institutions to the Rakyat the judiciary, Election Commission, police force, Attorney-General, etc.
Ÿ  Restore the liberties guaranteed to the Rakyat under the Federal Constitution by repealing the ISA, OSA, PPPA, UUCA and Sedition Act
Ÿ  Adopt the Social Inclusion Agenda, designed to raise the living standards of all marginalised persons in Malaysia.

We are now proceeding to the next stage for venues in East Malaysia:

a) 27th September - Kota Kinabalu - Courtyard Hotel
b) 28th September - Tawau - Belmont Marco Polo, and
c) 29th September - Kuching - Hotel Grand Continental
(Note: All the MCLM RARA forums are scheduled for 7pm to 11pm)

Mositun Spoke Too Soon About Pbs Being Vindicated

When the Prime Minister announced the government will repeal the Internal Security Act and other important reforms Datuk Johnny  Information Chief, PBS celebrated, saying it was a clear proof that the Barisan Nasional (BN) government is responsive to the people's feelings. He claimed that "These important reforms vindicate the decision by our President, Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan, to rejoin the BN 10 years ago. Today Pairin's faith in the BN to do the right things for the people and nation has been proven correct."

Make millions of people very happy!

Najib, Rosmah and Hishamuddin were flying on Air Plane. Najib looked at Rosmah, chuckled and said, "You know, I could throw a $1,000.00 bill out of the window right now and make somebody very happy."

Revolts looming in Sabah BN

By Luke Rintod of FMT
Umno-led Sabah Barisan Nasional has taken things too
much for granted in Sabah and this time, with the
impending general election, the state may be
fertile ground for revolts and back-stabbings
KOTA KINABALU: If the virulent exchanges among Sabah Barisan Nasional component parties are to be taken seriously, then back-stabbing, revolts and open challenges will be a common scene in the coming general election in Sabah.

Already at each other’s throat is the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and Umno leaders close to Chief Minister Musa Aman.

Political Interference: Ban on episode on Sabah's plights

Mystery ban on Siasat's Chinese edition episode

An episode of Media Prima-owned television station ntv7's Chinese edition of the current affairs programme, Siasat, which is aired every Thursday, was barred from being aired last night.

No explanation was given for the sudden decision to take this particular episode, titled "I want to go to school", off the air.

An old episode of the 30-minute Siasat series was aired during the time slot for the award-winning programme, which is 11.30 every Thursday night.

UBF can use SAPP as vehicle to contest

TAWAU: The United Borneo Front (UBF) is welcome to use Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) as a vehicle to contest in the 13th general election as both parties share the same struggle.

SAPP vice president Datuk Chua Soon Bui said UBF is a non-governmental organisation and both parties already had a lot of dialogues and organised seminars on whether they are sharing the same mission and vision for the whole of Sabah, including the autonomy of Sabah.

Whose side is DAP on?

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) has questioned whose side is Sabah DAP on following its latest attack over SAPP's flags put up all over Sabah in conjunction with the party's third anniversary pull-out from the Barisan Nasional (BN) on Sept 17, 2008.

"Why must DAP keep on attacking SAPP instead of BN-Umno?" asked SAPP Vice President cum Head of Negotiating Committee with DAP on seats and policies, Dullie Hj. Marie.

He said the action by Sabah DAP reinforced the notion that it was colluding with Umno as happened during the Batu Sapi Parliamentary by-election last year.

Malaya bleeding us dry

By Zainal Ajamain

Putrajaya's version of history has contaminated the minds
of children and stripped Sabahans of their dignity,
says economist and author Zainal Ajamain.
These words “we demand autonomy or Sabah Negeri, Merdeka” must be on the lips and hearts of all true leaders in Sabah.

On both sides of Sabah’s political divide, our leaders have long been incapacitated by their fear of their perceived Malaya masters.

They will not speak out against the daily injustices towards fellow Sabahans. And even when they do speak up it is just passive shouting – a token resistance, just to show they are saying something.

60,000 fake ICs: Where’s ISA when we need it?

‘Najib, please don’t remove the Internal Security Act (ISA) just yet, these are exactly the people who should be dealt by it.’

Citizenship applicants told to ‘vote for ruling party’

Pemerhati: Former prime minister Mahathir Mohamad and children – Mukhriz, Marina, etc – according to tradition, where the children take on the ethnicity of their father, are also Indians because his father was the son of an Indian from Kerala.

The Malaysian constitution also allows people like Mahathir, who are Muslims, who speak Malay and follow Malay customs, to call themselves Malays.
