A challenge to the Muhyiddin

Dear Muhyiddin,

I really don’t want to exchange pleasantries with you but my parents brought me up to respect everyone, even those you can’t stand. So here goes; I hope this letter reaches you in the best of health, both mind and body.

For yonks I’ve viewed politicians with a lot of disdain and an unhealthy degree of suspicion.

Could you blame me for having such a perception? I’ve seen countless politicians with so many different personas to cater to their target audience that they’d put a chameleon to shame.

Sabah has highest number of Muslims denouncing Islam

The Islamic Affairs Minister Jamil Khir Baharom has denied a Malaysiakini report that 135 applications to renounce the Islamic faith had been approved between 2000 and 2010.

However, the report was based on the written answer given by Jamil himself in the Parliament.

According to a Bernama report yesterday, Jamil claimed that no application has been approved to date by the Syariah Courts.

Sabah, Sarawak will lose oil, gas forever

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah and Sarawak will lose their oil and gas resources “forever” if the Petroleum Act 1974 is not amended, United Borneo Front (UBF) leader, Jeffrey Kitingan, said.

He said that the two states have already experienced “100% losses” of their oil and gas resources under the Petroleum Act.

More countries will investigate Taib?

The Bruno Manser Fund (BMF) expects more nations to launch corruption investigations against Sarawak Chief Minister Abdul Taib Mahmud, following those of the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (Finma) and Malaysian Anti-Corruption Agency (MACC).

“In particular, we are hoping that the governments of Canada, Australia, the UK and the US will start investigating Taib family assets in their countries,” the Swiss NGO has told the international press.

SINGAPORE: Two Singaporean women who drove to Johor Baru for supper were questioned by Malaysian immigration officials, handcuffed, thrown behind bars and made to do squats without their clothes on, the Singapore Straits Times reported today.

The two women said they had driven into Johor Baru through an unmanned immigration lane and did not get their passports stamped.
