KOTA KINABALU: PKR leader Christina Liew unleashed another salvo at Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Maximus Ongkili for giving excuses for being unable to wipe out poverty in his constituency.

The PKR leader said with his attitude it was no surprise that Kota Marudu remains the poorest constituency in Sabah.

THE Borneo Heritage Foundation’s United Borneo Front (UBF) Committee Chairman, Datuk Dr. Jeffrey Kitingan, requested the Federal Government to adhere to the assurances, undertakings and recommendations of the 1962 Inter-Governmental Committee Report (IGC Report) as provided in Article 8 of the Malaysia Agreement when implementing the federalisation of agencies in the Borneo States of Sabah and Sarawak.

MoCS to send memo to the King

MoCS will send a memorandum to His Majesty the Yang Di-Pertuan Agong re-Sarawak Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud.

Among other things, MoCS is urging the King to request MACC to expedite its investigations into the alleged reports of corruption and blatant abuse of power against Tan Sri Taib and to make public its investigations so far, if any, undertaken by the agency.

SAPP Youth: DAP talking like Umno

KOTA KINABALU, June 8, 2011: "Sabah DAP is talking more and more like UMNO because they think that DAP is now very strong like UMNO and can look down on others", said SAPP youth chief Edward Dagul today.

"Sabah DAP thinks that victory in the next general elections is guaranteed. For instance, at the DAP Chinese Kaamatan celebration last month, DAP had boasted publicly that "only Pakatan and NOBODY ELSE can take on the BN", said Edward.

He saw red when a photograph of the poor Marambal family in Matunggong in Kota Marudu was published in the local dailies here.

Shock and dismay over call by BN to increase electricity tariff in Sabah

KOTA KINABALU, June 7, 2011: Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) Women Chief and assemblywoman for Luyang, Melanie Chia expressed shock and dismay at the statement by the Assistant Resource Development and Information Technology Minister YB Datuk Jainab Ahmad that increasing the electricity tariff is the only logical thing to do if Sabah wants to see the power supply in the State improved. Her statement was reported in the Borneo Post on 7 June 2011.
