Ampun Tuanku, patik pohon derhaka

By Haris Ibrahim
The following is reported to be the first sermon of the First Caliph, Saidina Abu Bakar, after the death of the Holy Prophet (pbuh) :

“I have been given the authority over you, and I am not the best of you. If I do well, help me, and if I do wrong, set me right.  Sincere regard for truth is loyalty and disregard for truth is treachery. The weak amongst you shall be strong with me until I have secured his rights, if God will; and the strong amongst you shall be weak with me until I have wrested from him the rights of others, if God will. Obey me so long as I obey God and His Messenger (Muhammad, pbuh). But if I disobey God and His Messenger, ye owe me no obedience. Arise for your prayer, God have mercy upon you.”

In writing what I write below, I am guided by these words of wisdom.

I was born in the town of Batu Gajah, in the state of Perak.

The Australia's PM has gut...

Australia says NO!!!... Second  Time she has done this  !
AMAZING...  You must read this !!!!

She's done it again..
She sure isn't backing down on  her hard line stance and one has to appreciate her  belief in the rights of her native countrymen..
A breath of fresh air to see  someone lead. I wish some leaders would step up in   Canada & USA .

Australian Prime Minister does  it again!!
This woman  should be appointed Queen of the World.. Truer words have  never been spoken.
It took a lot of courage for  this woman to speak what she had to say for the world to  hear.  The retribution could be phenomenal, but at  least she was willing to take a stand on her and Australia 's beliefs.
The whole  world  needs a leader like  this!

Prime  Minister Julia Gillard -  Australia

Muslims  who want to live under Islamic Sharia law  were told on Wednesday to get out of Australia , as the  government targeted radicals in a bid to head off  potential terror attacks..

It’s BN who will do anything to retain power

By Daniel John Jambun
Kota Kinabalu, SABAH: During the recent Barisan Nasional Convention, Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said that the leadership of the opposition parties are actually struggling to achieve certain objectives to gain power and are bound to resolving their personal problems to the extent that they are prepared to deceive the people, and that the people and leaders of Barisan Nasional must be wary because the opposition leaders were prepared to do anything to achieve their objectives including tarnishing Malaysia's image abroad. "Beware everyone, they are very dangerous. I want to point out here, they are anti-national. We must go all out and ensure that this country is not destroyed by their evil activities," he said.

Of course this is yet another attempt by the BN to demonise the opposition, with no hesitation with the use of the words “dangerous”, “anti-national”, “destroyed”, “evil activities” and so on. It made me think how uncivilised our political system must be because BN leaders can call the opposition leaders with demonic words, to make us feel threatened and frightened. It also made me think about myself being in the opposition and feeling my intelligence deeply insulted, as if I didn’t know better. What is the point of Malaysians being educated in the 25 universities and even more colleges if our leaders keep talking as if we are just village yokels who are expected to believe every blatant lies the leaders are telling us? When are out leaders ever going to understand that Malaysians are now globalised world citizens. When the PM is in the mood for asking us to go “glocal” he treats us as if we are at par with the Americans, but come the political functions, the oppositions are an evil lot and the people a bunch of idiots. So where is the “Malaysia Boleh” slogan, the principles of “hadari”, what about turning Malaysia into an education hub, and what about the call for us to go and conquer the world? I can imagine what kind of outrage the public would have if Obama had said what Najib said: “"Beware fellow Americans, the Republicans are very dangerous. I want to point out here, they are anti-national! We must go all out and ensure that this country is not destroyed by their evil activities!" Get my drift? I am certain, even Democrats would be screaming abuses at Obama. But in Malaysia, no, we are supposed to tolerate it, just accept it as a political game, and believe the oppositions to be followers of the Devil himself!

Thousands of 'Sino-natives' may end up status-less

By Queville To
KOTA KINABALU: The authority of the Native Court in Sabah may be on the verge of unravelling itself and throwing into doubt the status of tens of thousands of Sino-natives in the state.
Sabah DAP is concerned that a “politically motivated” investigation of the Sino-native status of their boss Jimmy Wong, who is also Sri Tanjung assemblyman, would open a Pandora's box of claims and counter-claims across the state.
DAP secretary Edwin Bosi warned that the move would have far-reaching impact on the status of children of mixed parentage.
"The issue of whether one is a native or not, should be left to the Native Court to decide without interference by the government," said Bosi.
He called on the Sabah government to let the Native Court handle all native-related matters, and resume the issuance of the native certificates immediately.
“It is legal for anyone to present himself or herself to the Native Court if he or she would like to be known or identified as a Sino-native or a native,” he said.
He added that Sabah DAP strongly supported the calls to strengthen the Native Court in Sabah as proposed during a public forum on the indigenous legal system organised by the Human Rights Commission Malaysia (Suhakam) here on Oct 12.

Sabah poverty: EPU formula all wrong, says Sipaun

By Dominic Legeh
KOTA KINABALU: Sabah continues to top the list of poor states in the country because the federal government's allocation for each state is based on the number of Malaysian citizens in each state and not the actual population.
Former Malaysian Human Rights Commission (Suhakam) vice-chairman, Simon Sipaun said the Malaysia Plan formula which was used by the Economic Planning Unit (EPU) was not feasible for Sabah because it did not take into account the thousands of illegal immigrants.
He said nine years ago when Suhakam was under the chairmanship of Musa Hitam, they had a dialogue in Kuala Lumpur which involved the relevant ministers and the EPU.
“During the meeting, I asked (the EPU) how they allocated money to all the states when formulating the Malaysia Plan.
"In the case of Sabah, I said, there are many illegal immigrants in Sabah and supposing that we have half a million illegal immigrants in Sabah, do you take into account the total number of people in Sabah when you allocate the money or not,” he recalled.

Malaysia’s hypocrisy over child abuse

Cherry-picking from Syariah law for excuses that suit them
Mariam Mokhtar, Malaysia Chronicle

EDITOR'S PICK Malaysians have long acknowledged that they are subject to selective justice; poor vs. rich, muslims vs non-muslims, women vs men and now it seems children vs adults.

The marriage of a 14-year old girl on 7 December sparked public outrage. To get around this, Muslim ministers cherry-pick from syariah law. It is this false adherence to Islamic principles and the “holier than thou” attitude that exposes their blatant hypocrisy and double standards.

Nazri Abdul Aziz, minister in the Prime minister’s department who is in charge of legal affairs, finally revealed that the government had no intention of reviewing laws allowing for underage marriages because the practice is permitted under Islam.

He said, “If the religion allows it, then we can't legislate against it. Islam allows it as long as the girl is considered to have reached her pubescent stage, once she has her menstruation".

Another man in a songkok

In the old days kids of 10 or 11 went to war and at 14 or 15 they were veteran soldiers and at 18 were considered old (by 40 many were already dead). That was more than 1,000 years ago. So at 14 they got married, even in the west.
NO HOLDS BARRED
Raja Petra Kamarudin
The height of a man’s songkok is not a measurement of his piety, says the PAS spiritual leader, Tok Guru Nik Aziz Nik Mat. Nik Aziz was of course referring to thesongkok-clad PERKASA leaders.
In fact, a songkok makes a man an Indian because the songkok originated from India, not Malaysia. So the PERKASA people should be screaming Ketuanan India rather than Ketuanan Melayu.
Now another man with a songkok -- the Jakim director-general -- has decreed that child marriages are kosher. Imagine children of the age of 14 can get married but they are not old enough to vote. You can trust them to have children and raise a family but you can’t trust them to vote.
And they say we are insulting Islam.
By the way, this man, Wan Mohamad Sheikh Abdul Aziz, was one of those who made a police report against me that resulted in my ISA detention back in 2008.
Okay, is Wan Mohamad Sheikh Abdul Aziz now going to defend slavery? Slavery is legal in Islam and has never been banned. Ask any ulamak and he or she can tell you that Islam never banned slavery. Therefore, you can legally keep slaves.

Don’t Change Your Country, Change Your Government

Malaysia For All
A very inspiring and notable tweet from YB Hannah Yeoh yesterday prompted me to put up this posting.
@hannahyeoh Just heard news another young lawyer friend will b migrating 2Australia.Young people, don’t lose hope.Dont change ur country, change ur govt!
This country is at its worst since Merdeka in terms of education, human rights, corruptions while the institutions are not performing their duties, without fear or favor, entrusted upon them but to abide by the calls of the ruling elite.

We see how this country fared from being the best in Asia to become the worst in the bottom half. All along what we can see is that the government is simply happy to be the best among the worst but not striving to gain the best among the best status.
