Malaysia not the original concept

By Anonymous
Malaysia as it is today is not the original concept the KL snake oil salesmen sold to our grandparents- being 5 countries as equal partners in a confederation which looked after defence and foreign affairs!

The original concept was a recycled 1942 British war time forward planning idea to consolidate the 3 British Borneo Protectorates (from 1888) Brunei North Borneo & Sarawak with Malaya and Singapore under one colonial admin and military command.

After WW2 this idea was not feasible as Britain feared being bogged down fighting money draining independence wars it was facing where ever the sunset in its Empire.

UN De-colonization Committee had announced that all colonies should be de-colonised and UK wanted to be a seen as a good world citizen.

So the next best solution was to flog the same idea on its chosen successor the Malayan UMNO regime to transfer the 3 Borneo colonies to UMNO rule under the sandiwara of forming Malaysia.

The 18 & 20 Points Agreement support the confederation concept by preserving all aspects of self-government (the illusory "autonomy") for Sabah and Sarawak respectively except defence and foreign affairs.

This concept broke down before it even got started. 5 countries became 4 when Brunei most wisely stayed out of this Ponzi scheme and then became 3 when Singapore left in 1965. The concept was dead and should have been re-negotiated or Malaysia dismantled.

But they pushed ahead with the MA63. It was signed on 9 July 1963 by UK, Malaya and S'pore with North Borneo and Sarawak as colonies.

1. The issue of S'pore "expulsion" should have been discussed by all the signatories and Malaya had no power to kick out S'pore.

Further there was no clause governing such a situation in the M'sia Agreement. So the matter would have to go to the British courts. But they played dirty and ignored SS's rights.

FYI the Tunku & his protection gang fiercely opposed the Lansdowne committee which was drafting the 18 & 20 Points Agreement from including an exit clause. Recently Najib declared that SS are forever part of Malaysia.
One blogger said if SS left the Malayans would bring guns.

Now we know the reason why UMNO insisted no exist clause in the Points Agreement. They imprinted their colonizing intentions by insisting on a clause which "prohibits secession".

Now this is against the rules of free association. Lord Lansdowne who did not want an exit clause said on this point that Malaysia was a free association and North Borneo (then) and Sarawak had an "INTRINSIC RIGHT to secede at will"!

But for both SS and S'pore the situation was deemed a fait accompli and S'pore is happy and lucky to be out of the nasty abusive relationship!

SS are not happy!

2. Sabah and Sarawak were described as colonies in the MA63 and who signed the doc for them?

SS became independent after 9 July 1963 before Proclamation on Malaysia & everyone- SS SOVEREIGNTY WAS NOT TRANSFERRED TO MALAYA AT THIS MOMENT!

Question: does the MA63 bind Sabah Sarawak when they became independent? Did the act of independence invalidate the MA63? Especially when Malaya had not sunk its crocodile jaws on the 2 colonies?

This issue caused a major uproar between UK and UMNO. The Tunku even threatened to call of "Malaysia" - WISH HE DID!

Malaysia Day had to be changed to 16 September because of this oversight by UK in not getting an Order in Council to formally transfer sovereignty to Malaya. This upset the Tunku, Razak and Ghazali big time and they were abusive and tearing their hair.

In soon to be revealed Colonial Papers, it will be exposed to the world that Britain and Malaya conspired to annex the 3 colonies into Malaysia with S'pore as a willing partner.
But do bear in mind the Malaysia concept had changed 3 times. The first 2 are mentioned above.

The third change is when Sabah and Sarawak were converted to Malayan colonies.

kedua-dua negeri ini mengasingkan diri daripada Malaysia.

    ReplyDelete

  52. The fight for rights and autonomy of Sabah and Sarawak has been geared up more seriously with the sealing of a collaboration on Tuesday between two NGOs.

The president of the UK-based Borneo Plight in Malaysia Foundation (BOPIM), Daniel John Jambun, said that a historic meeting between BOPIM and the Sarawak Sovereignty Movement (SSM) held in Kuching on June 11 was to commit to “fighting for the sovereignty of Sabah and Sarawak.”

    ReplyDelete
  53. Jambun in a joint statement with SSM’s spokesman, Dato’ Moshidi Abdul Rahman, said that the gist of the BOPIM-SSM approach is for the revival of the two states’ sovereignty as were achieved on August 31, 1963 for Sabah, and on July 22, 1963 for Sarawak.

    ReplyDelete
  54. The NGOs see 2013 as an opportune year for the united NGOs to commence pursuit of this long-overdue objective especially because 2013 marks the 50th year of the Malaysia Agreement.

“At the same time we want to explore further the deeper nature of the relationship that both Sabah and Sarawak should have with Malaya after the restoration of the sovereignties of the Borneo states,” they said.

    ReplyDelete
  55. “One idea is that when it comes to Sabah and Sarawak, the Federal Government should confine itself to defence, foreign affairs and national economic planning.

“We need to seriously re-look at the whole history and arrangement of the Malaysian federation. Firstly, we are of the position that there has not been a proper referendum conducted in Sabah, Sarawak, Brunei and Malaya prior to the formation of Malaysia,” the joint statement said.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Jambun explained that the BOPIM-SSM stance is that because of the absence of a referendum, the Government in Putrajaya/Kuala Lumpur saw no compelling reason to fulfill the provisions of the Malaysia Agreement, and this had led to a lot of what is now seen as non-compliance.

    ReplyDelete
  57. “We must be aware of the fact that the Cobbold Commission was not a referendum. It was merely a survey and this clearly was an open British and Malayan breach and transgression of the United Nation Protocols on Decolonization.”

    ReplyDelete
  58. “This is perhaps the reason why the whole world, and even Malayans, still sees Malaya as Malaysia, without seeing Sabah and Sarawak as important components of the federation,” Jambun said.

“But within Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak are being referred to as the 12th and 13th states after the departure of Singapore which saw the definition of Federation in the Constitution being amended to the disadvantages of the Borneo states.

    ReplyDelete
  59. We can then interpret that September 16, 1963 became the day that Malaya re-colonized Sabah and Sarawak. As such BOPIM-SSM tends to see this day more as ‘Colonisation Day’ instead of Malaysia Day.”

The two NGOs say they are fighting for sovereignty because it will bring immense benefits to both Sabah and Sarawak.

SARAWAKIANS/SABAHANS- INSTEAD OF WRINGING YOUR HANDS, PULLING OUT YOUR HAIR & SCREAMING IN DESPAIR- WHY DON'T WE ASK WHAT CAN BE DONE TO RID OUR COUNTRY OF THIS SCOURGE (MALAYSIA)?

First do not look too far for the source of our dilemma.

Neo-colonial Malaysia is the mother of all sufferings for Sarawak and Sabah for the past 50 years.

The Grand Malaysia pie in the sky promise was for life to be improved from 1963. What we got was 50 years of descending deeper into a hell hole called "Malaysia".

In this hell misrule, abuse of power and official criminality has been the order of the day. It has been a hell where the people are terrorized by a dictatorial government which has taken us backwards in development.

Even life before 1963 appeared a lot better than the current hell for the majority poor!

This became a quagmire of misery and poverty for millions of our fellow country men and women as the UMNO terrorist regime robbed our country and dispossessed the people under the rule of their local puppet regimes.

It might surprise a few born after 1963 that when the British conspired with UMNO to annex Brunei, North Borneo and Sarawak into Malaysia, the Brunei and Sarawak people took up arms to oppose this neo-colonial creation. They seem to have given their lives and freedom for nothing but they made stand.

Some may have seen the light now and quietly wish for a revolution so we can deal a death blow to the criminal regime that holds a sword or gun to our back.

The people in Turkey have arisen like the other Middle east countries against their dictatorial and corrupt government.

In Malaya the people of all races are uniting and rising up to oppose the fascist and racist UMNO government.

In Sabah the people have been demanding their independence rights for the last few years.

In Sarawak there is minimal public reaction when more and more crimes are committed by the rulers against various sections of the people.

By "public" is meant those ordinary spectator citizens who stood and watch while small groups of Penans dared to resist their oppressors led by Taib over 35 years and now the NCR struggles. The spectators stood by and say to themselves it does not "concern us!"

So how long will it take for you all to wake up and realize that you are either part of the solution or part of the problem?

Your inaction allow the criminals to say you agree with them, you approve of their crimes against people and country.

Your inaction allow them to take everything of value that should be used for the benefit of the people.

If you all continue the way you are you become part of the blame.

  62. Malaysian democracy has been overtaken by dynasty, and only relatives of senior politicians enter politics. True, doctors and engineers too encourage their children to take to their profession. But there is a difference. Children of doctors and engineers have to pass exams. They do not inherit their degrees from their parents.

Politicians’ wards have no such barrier to overcome. They land up from some American or British university and immediately become “somebody” of a political party built by hundreds of party workers. The second in command, who has expectations of becoming the next leader, is unceremoniously dumped. Needless to say, the sons and daughters win the election. Dynastic succession has become the biggest threat to Malaysian democracy.

Familiarity of the clan is a starting point in making many choices. One of the parameters we use in making choices is based on birth. While the poor and illiterate are easily swayed away, others are blinded by race and religion and other narrow considerations. Dynastic politics is a malady we have to learn to live with.

We find sons and daughters and even son-in-law following the path of their fathers or father-in-law, illustrious or otherwise, in all walks of life. Their success largely depends on their calibre and performance.

Najib Tun Razak is the son of the second prime minister, Tun Abdul Razak; Hishamuddin Hussein Onn is the son of third prime minister, Hussein Onn; Mukhriz Mahathir is the son of fourth prime minister, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad; Khairy Jamaluddin the UMNO Youth Chief is the son-in-law of fifth prime minister, Tun Abdullah Badawi; Penang chief minister and DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng is the son of DAP advisor Lim Kit Siang while Karpal Singh’s both sons, Gobind and Jagdeep Singh, are elected representatives; Nurrul Izzah is daughter of Anwar Ibrahim; PAS Youth deputy chairman Nik Abduh is the son of PAS spiritual advisor Tok Guru Nik Aziz Nik Mat and the list goes on.

The practice of dynasty politics exists in both the Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Rakyat.

Now Mahathir is trying hard to get his son Mukriz Mahathir to take over as deputy prime minister of Malaysia and then to become prime minister. To reach that goal, Mahathir wants his son Mukriz to first takeover as Menteri Besar of Kedah, Mahathir is selling this idea to Kedahans and that they have to first topple the Pakatan Rakayat government come GE13. So, let us give Mukhriz Mahathir a chance and pronounce a judgment after UMNO wins Kedah, if it ever wins.
