Retain Abdul Rahman as KB MP, says PBS Sendelun

KOTA BELUD :   A senior leader of a Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) branch here had appealed to Chief Minister Musa Aman to retain current MP for Kota Belud, Abdul Rahman Dahlan, as Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for the area in the coming election.

"On behalf of members and supporters of Kota Belud BN component members especially from PBS Taginambur Jaya branch, i called upon the state leadership to affirm the retention of our current MP as BN candidate here," said Robert Meisin Sendelun in a statement issued in Kota Belud Thursday.

Sendelun who is PBS branch deputy chairman for Taginambur Jaya near here, said this appeal was made despite the fact that Abdul Rahman was not under any direct threat of being removed or replaced.

"PBS felt obliged to note that he should be retained for continuity. Three factors why Rahman should be retained as BN candidate for Kota Belud are developments, his approach and the potentialities that we would gain under his continuous leadership.

"There is no doubt that Abdul Rahman had brought in a lot of developments to Usukan, Tempasuk and Kadamaian in a short period of time. There are loads more need to be done to further develop Kota Belud potentialities and it is best that he be given another term to serve us in Kota Belud.

"Rahman's approaches to the people also are commendable as he has made himself a lot easier to approach and that he goes down to the ground often to see for himself the plights of the people in Kota Belud, just like when we had the late Datuk Maidom Pansai as our MP much earlier," he pointed out.

Sendelun further stressed that PBS members and supporters in Kadamaian too are fond of Abdul Rahman leadership and it would be a great loss if he is to be replaced, especially by one who may not be as approachable and listening as Rahman. 

"In any case, if there is a need to get a new BN candidate for Kota Belud MP, then we in PBS are of the opinion that the state leadership should also consider one of our capable Dusun leaders here for the opportunity to serve the multi ethnic society in the area which are mainly made up of Dusun, Bajau, Iranun and a small community of Chinese," he added.
