STAR's Sabah Information Chief, Edward Linggu |
“Sabah and Sarawak are equal partners with Malaya and not the 12th and 13th States and the Borneo Agenda is about the rights of Sabah and Sarawak and is not anti-Malaya or parochial” said Edward Linggu, STAR Sabah Information Chief, in response to Datuk Seri Panglima Wilfred Bumburing’s statement reported in the local media.
The Malaya Agenda is about the internal control and colonization of Sabah and the siphoning of Sabah’s rich resources, oil and gas and revenue. The Borneo Agenda advocated by STAR is about the seeking and restoring Sabah’s rights and autonomy and to manage its own rich resources. Treating Sabah as a colony and “fixed deposit” and taking 95% of Sabah’s oil revenue and 100% of its federal revenue is no longer acceptable.
It is obvious that Bumburing has lost the will and desire to champion for Sabah with his statements and misunderstanding of the real problems and issues facing Sabah today as well as failure to comprehend STAR’s struggle for Sabah.
“I have personally worked with Bumburing in PBS and used to have high regard of himself for his part in fighting for Sabah’s rights but it seems now that it is in the past and forgotten and is now dependent on and subservient to Peninsular leadership” added Edward.
Sabahans need to be reminded that the Federation of Malaysia is not a unitary state but a nation comprising of three nation-states. Even West Malaysians and Sarawakians entering Sabah need to go through immigration and work permits are required for them to work here. This is the Sabah that is supposed to be in the Federation as envisaged but as it is now, down-graded to be the 12th State and made worse by illegals given dubious MyKads and over-whelming the locals.
It is the official stand and policy of STAR Sabah to topple the BN federal and state governments and to work with the opposition to achieve this. This has been conveyed by our Chairman in writing recently to the top leadership in Pakatan including Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
Unlike Bumburing who is willing to be subservient, STAR’s position is that STAR will cooperate and work with the national opposition but not under them. In our official letter, we have also conveyed that while we suggest that PR focus on seats in the Peninsular, we are agreeable to PR components contesting in Sabah to achieve a 1:1 contest to bring down BN.
As a follow-up, PR components have been in direct discussions with STAR on seats distribution in Sabah. Obviously, Bumburing is not aware as he is not part and parcel of PR but on the fringes. How will he be able to look after Sabah’s rights and interests when is not officially inside PR? He will have no say and unable to sway even PKR Sabah as he is an outsider to PR Sabah?
Bumburing need to be realistic and not be looking out for himself. People are saying heis just a small fish in a big pond but thinks he is a giant and demands to contest all the KDM seats. Even if he had taken the entire Upkoout with him, he is in no position to demand for all the KDM seats.
Even his APS’ so-called “perjuangan” are mere copy-cats of what UBF and STAR has been doing for the last 2-3 years. APS’ so-called battle-cry “INI KALI LAH!” is a copy of STAR’s and rings hollow compared to STAR’s INI KALI LAH! song which is easily available on Youtube and played in the kampungs throughout Sabah.
We would also like to advise Bumburing to look after his own house and there is no need to worry about STAR’s full house of 26 Divisions (including Labuan) and 60 DUNs which APS doesn’t even come close. Our Papar division is not dissolved and has emerged stronger. In any event, how can 1 weak leader who has left the Party has the legal authority to dissolve the division?
As for Keningau being an administrativecentre, obviously again Bumburing has not updated himself. There is no doubt that under a STAR-led government, Sabah will be divided into 5 Administrative Regions to be governed by a Governor and a Regional Executive Council each. This will provide the nerve centrefor an effective regional administration and impetus to propel the growth and development of Sabah. It has been wrongly reported that Keningau was to be the state administrative capital when what was said was that Keningau would be the regional administrative centre for the Interior Division, tentatively known as Trusmadi Region and this erroneous reporting had been rectified.
Wouldn’t Bumburing agree that carving out Sabah into 5 Regions equivalent to the states in the Peninsular would be a workable proposal to have a more effective and people-friendly government which will also expedite the development of Sabah, especially in the outlying areas?
STAR reiterates its stand that it will work with the national opposition to topple the BN governments as well as local opposition including Bumburing himself. We are prepared to accommodate him for Tuaran and he is unlikely to win without STAR’s support in Tuaran as the local communities there will reject BN and APS in the coming elections.
The time has come for Sabahans to vote out the Umno/BN government in Sabah and replace them with patriotic Sabahans who are prepared to put Sabah’s interests, rights and autonomy first ahead of personal and party interests.
STAR Sabah’s stand and struggle for Sabah is not merely CHANGE but REFORMS for a Better Sabah for all which is the objective of STAR’s “SELAMATKAN SABAH TANAH AIRKU” Campaign. The future of Sabah lies in the hands of us Sabahans, not outsiders or Sabahans under the control of outsiders.
ARE WE FIGHTING FOR INDEPENDENCE OR DEPENDENCE?
ReplyDelete"The Malaya Agenda is about the internal control and colonization of Sabah and the siphoning of Sabah’s rich resources, oil and gas and revenue. WE CAN SEE THAT IT IS NOT ABOUT "INTERNAL COLONISATION" SINCE WE WERE EXTERNALLY INVADED AND COLONISED BY MALAYA!
IT IS ABOUT TAKING BACK OUR COUNTRY & INDEPENDENCE OUTSIDE MALAYA'S CONTROL!
Bumburing wake uplah is your apt song.
DeleteYour national politics now is a remnant of his former national politics while with Upko the other Umno's ally.
Sorry Bumburing your politics does nt entice and attract us the youn-but-aware- of our trampled rights by your "national politics" !
Yeah bagus itu slogan Bumburing Wake Up Lah saya situju butul montoku dan paluk luping lapas itu suka tampar orang itulah YB sahaya
DeleteA Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) source says a breakdown in seat allocation talks between the party and Pakatan Rakyat (PR) will not help PR scuttle its chances in the state.
ReplyDeleteAs such, PR should choose between marching into Putrajaya and wresting control of the state, it said, adding the opposition pact can not have its cake and eat it too.
ReplyDeleteAn electoral pact between PR and state opposition parties can definitely shake, or even defeat, Barisan Nasional (BN) in the next general election (GE).
ReplyDeleteBut if they fail in their seat allocation talks, resulting in multi-cornered fights, it will only benefit BN.
ReplyDeleteLate last year, Parti Keadilan Rakyat adviser Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the party was focusing on working out a seat allocation pact with Angkatan Perubahan Sabah (APS) and Pakatan Perubahan Sabah (PPS).
ReplyDeleteHowever, last weekend, he said PR's seat negotiations in Sabah were being hampered by SAPP's demand to contest the lion's share of the 60 state seats.
ReplyDeleteHe said the entire negotiation was rendered more difficult because all the three PR parties do not seem to agree on the need to allocate that many seats to SAPP.
ReplyDeleteIt is learnt that SAPP intends to contest five to eight parliamentary and 40 state seats. In the 2008 GE, the party won all two parliamentary and four state seats it contested under the BN banner.
ReplyDeleteAnwar has roped in APS and PPS to form a five-member Sabah PR. His latest remarks on seat negotiations in the state show that Sabah PR is in a predicament – too few seats for too many parties.
ReplyDelete"We don't know whether Anwar is creating opportunities or difficulties in the state. If all parties can talk amicably, allowing Sabah-based parties to take the lead role, things can be worked out," said the SAPP source.
ReplyDeleteIt is learnt that apart from eyeing predominantly Chinese constituencies in the state, DAP is also keen to go for Kadazan-majority seats.
ReplyDelete"SAPP is a Chinese-based party contesting in Chinese-majority areas by tradition.
ReplyDelete"If DAP insists on contesting in these seats, leaving SAPP with the same number of seats (two parliamentary and four state seats) to contest, a pact will be meaningless," added the source.
ReplyDelete"The two (Sabah) parties are still in negotiation. We believe STAR has its influence in some constituencies," said the source.
ReplyDeleteSTAR is just an old story from Sarawak.
ReplyDeleteMasalahnya Jeffrey bukan ketua pembangkang Sabah.
ReplyDeletePR Sabah is still in communication with SAPP on the issue of seats allocation for the 13th general election.
ReplyDeleteAccording to the president of its component party, APS, Datuk Seri Panglima Wilfred Bumburing, they are still in touch with SAPP leaders on the seats allocation issue, especially for the predominantly KadazanDusun Murut-based constituencies.
ReplyDeletethe Pakatan Rakyat Sabah leadership would be contacting SAPP for a follow up on the matter
ReplyDeleteThe Tuaran member of parliament was also asked for updates on the negotiations with Sabah STAR, as Pakatan Rakyat leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had said that Bumburing had been appointed to talk to its chairman, Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan about working with the opposition front.
ReplyDeletenow realizing that Dr Jeffrey has been painting a very sweet and beautiful but unrealistic picture
ReplyDeleteif Sabah STAR’s refusal to work with the opposition front would affect Pakatan Rakyat’s chances of winning in the state, Bumburing stressed that voters in Sabah would be more focused on Pakatan Rakyat and BN.
ReplyDeleteMany people are saying that they are ready for a change but they are concerned about it being not being a straight fight.
ReplyDeletein the history of Sabah, there has never been a one to one fight
ReplyDelete“The same happened in 1985, it was not a straight fight between Berjaya and PBS, there were other parties like Bersekutu and Pasok but in the end people were deciding between PBS and Berjaya
ReplyDeleteThose parties who play little ‘politics in between’ will be forgotten.
ReplyDeleteParti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS) congratulated Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman for having successfully administered Sabah and for the state's sound financial management, proving that the Barisan Nasional government is capable of managing the state's resources well.
ReplyDeleteIts President Tan Sri Joseph Kurup also said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib, who is also BN Chairman, had proven that he was Prime Minister for all Malaysians by helming a government which did not sideline any group under the 1Malaysia concept.
Delete"With the 2013 Budget, I've not seen such a people-friendly budget covering all levels of society, from schoolchildren, youths, single mothers, senior citizens, Rela members to civil servants.
Delete"The 1Malaysia concept is working well and it is not a mere slogan, but followed up with actions in line with the Federal Constitution" he said.
DeleteThe party's two-day congress begins Friday.
It would be officially opened by Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin on Saturday.
DeleteKurup said BN was the best choice for the people, including in Sabah, as unprecedented development and success had and would continue to reach every nook and corner of the country including Pensiangan.
Delete"Various development programmes have been implemented to improve the people's lot, including building the Keningau Integrated Livestock Centre in Sook with an allocation of almost RM1 billion, the clean water supply project in Pegalungan at a cost of RM56 million, repair of longhouses, the Local Housing Assistance Programme, Keningau Hospital and Nabawan Hospital."
DeleteOn the allocation of seats for BN component parties in the coming 13th general election, Kurup said:
Delete"The BN-held seats should remain with the incumbent parties, but I think exceptions can be made and the vacant seats appropriately allotted.
Although it looks like the toughest general election ever, he is confident PBRS will play a role just as crucial as the big component parties for the ruling coalition to remain in power at the state (Sabah) and federal levels.
DeleteKurup, who is also Natural Resources and Environment Deputy Minister, said PBRS was all prepared to ensure that the Pensiangan parliamentary seat and Sook state seats currently held by the party would be retained, as well as overall victory for BN.
DeleteIn the 2008 general election, Kurup, 67, won the Pensiangan seat uncontested while party deputy president and state Assistant Minister for Tourism, Culture and Environment Datuk Ellron Angin defeated the opposiiton candidate to win the Sook seat.
DeleteHowever, the Pensiangan result was dragged to court after the opposition candidate alleged irregularities. Kurup himself was almost assaulted by those unhappy over the seat being won uncontested.
DeleteKurup hoped the people would not make any error of judgement in deciding on the country's destiny.
ReplyDeletePRU -13: KALI INI JANJI APA PULA YANG DIDENDANGKAN
ReplyDeletePRU-13 diambang pintu.
Fikir-fikirkan lah.
ReplyDeleteAll the progress enjoyed by the people and the country under the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Abdul Razak through the 1Malaysia concept and the transformation plan have made the opposition envious.
ReplyDeleteInformation, Communications and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim said it was because of the jealousy that the opposition was working hard to poison the people's mind to make them to change the government in the coming general election.
