Don’t believe my brother, pleads Pairin

Under pressure, PBS president Pairin Kitingan swears that
he "never stopped fighting" for Sabahans' future
including championing "Article 20 of the
Malaysia Agreement and oil royalties."
KOTA KINABALU:  Sabah Deputy Chief Minister Joseph Pairin Kitingan under heavy pressure from his Umno-Barisan Nasional bosses to reel-in his younger and politically ‘wayward’ brother Jeffrey, called him a  ‘liar’ and lumped him together with other ‘lying opposition leaders’.
Pairin, who is president of Parti Bersatu Sabah, said his party had “never stopped fighting” for the people.
“”PBS never stopped fighting for the people’s future including Article 20 of Malaysia Agreement and oil royalties…,” he said alluding to Jeffrey’s consistent claim that the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition, of which PBS is a member, had  failed to uphold the terms of the 1963 agreement.
Jeffrey, who heads the State Reform Party (STAR) Sabah Chapter, has carved his Borneo Agenda around the demand for the federal government to honour the terms of the Malaysia Agreement, reinstate and recognise Sabah and Sarawak as ‘autonomous’ nations which came together with Singapore and the Federated Malaya to ink the agreement.
Dubbed the ‘state’s autonomy champion’, Jeffrey was imprisoned without trial under the infamous Internal Security Act (ISA) in 1991 for allegedly having secessionist views during the rule of PBS from 1986 to 1994.
Undaunted, the political maverick, has remained at the forefront of the issue and has taken on ‘historians’ and politicians who have disputed his perspectives of the 20-Point agreement.
Yesterday Pairin pleaded with participants at the ‘Pemimpin Bersama Rakyat’ programme in Kampung Dabata in Tambunan saying “the good ties between the federal government and state government must be preserved”.
“Prime Minister Najib’s people friendly leadership has allowed us to raise issues with him including the RCI (Royal Commission of Inquiry against illegals) formation.
“We expressed our feelings and he (Najib) listened. We also raised issues mentioned by the opposition. But (unlike them) we don’t tell lies to people.
“They are lying to the people. You are familiar with them including my own brother (Jeffrey) who keep switching parties claiming it was for the love of the people.
“He (Jeffrey) took his friends from Yayasan Sabah with him and as a result we lost the Kadazandusun people there,” said Pairin.

‘Pairin under pressure’
Pairin’s attack on Jeffrey is seen as a first political swipe in a battle schedule to take place in Keningau in the impending 13th general election.
Keningau is among the hotseats of the Kadazandusun community. STAR has already declared that it will be contesting in all KDM seats.
Jeffrey, himself, has declared that he will again face his brother for the Keningau parliamentary seat.
Pairin, who is the Huguon Siau (paramount leader) of the Kadazandusuan community has held the seat for 30 years.  In 2008 Jeffrey took on Pairin for the Keningau parliamentary seat but was defeated.
Meanwhile Jeffrey recently told FMT that Pairin was under “tremendous” pressure from within his party PBS and Umno.
But like Bernard Dompok, who is Upko president, Pairin is not likely to do anything drastic.
“Both Dompok and my brother have lived off (and soaked in) Umno’s benevolence for too long.
“They cannot leave now or do anything to the contrary,” Jeffrey said.
PBS and Upko are seen as the primary victims of Jeffrey’s Borneo Tea Parties (BTP), which is a series of political awareness talks that is anchored in the terms of the Malaysia Agreement and Sabah rights that have been since compromised and or lost as a result of Umno-BN’s ‘fuedal’ policies.
Since its launch in 2010, the BTPs have reached thousands of Sabahans and there is a noticeable change of views permeating the grassroots especially among younger KDMs.
‘Star’s direction crystal clear’
The party’s primary agenda is to convey to Sabahans the ‘true’ socio-economic and political situation in the state and it is doing this through its legion of young and upwardly mobile professionals (yuppie) members who liken themselves to  the biblical ‘messengers’.
The BTPs extensive grassroot reach appears to be rattling BN leaders in the state.
In a series of rebuttals recently Jeffrey took on State Legislative Assembly Speaker Salleh Keruak,  Sabah BN  secretary Rahman Dahlan, Tuaran and Beaufort MPs Wilfred Bumburing and Lajim Ukin for their ‘ignorance’ in regards to the Malaysia Agreement and its importance to Sabah and Sabahans.
Yesterday Jeffrey took Lajim to task for stating that STAR had ‘no clear direction’.
In a curt statement he said: “STAR’s direction is crystal-clear. [In fact, we are] the clearest among all the parties in Sabah.
“STAR Sabah seeks the restoration of Sabah as one of three equal partners in Malaysia and its struggle is made clear with the Borneo Agenda and its seven core demands.
“Sabah and Sarawak did not join Malaysia as the 12th and 13th states.
“It’s regretful that Lajim and Bumburing are still unclear about how to go about with their leadership direction and struggle for Sabah,” he reportedly said .

  1. PROCLAMATION OF MALAYSIA

In the name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful, Praise to God, the Lord of the Universe, and may the benediction and peace of God be upon Our Leader Muhammad and upon all his Relations and Friends.

WHEREAS by an Agreement made on the Ninth day of July in the year one thousand nine hundred and sixty-three between the Federation of Malaya, the United Kingdom, North Borneo, Sarawak and Singapore it was agreed that there shall be federated the States of Sabah, Sarawak and Singapore with the Federation of Malaya comprising the states of Pahang, Trengganu, Kedah, Johore, Negri Sembilan, Kelantan, Selangor, Perak, Perlis, Penang and Malacca, and that the Federation shall thereafter be called "MALAYSIA":

It is clear that Sabah, Sarawak, Singapore federated with the Federation of Malaya not with the individual states in Malaya.

Tan Sri, recently, MP Kota Belud said that Sabah is 1 of 13 states. Did Tan Sri and PBS or other PBS leaders raise any objection to that stupid and offensive statement from MP Kota Belud?

If you cannot even raise an objection to such an offensive statement, how can you protect Sabah?

  2. anonymous 8.40 am. we have to also look at the context as what it was said that Sabah is 1 of the 13 Malaysian states. In the Federation of Malaysia is is a state, but has inherited rights of autonomy that make it different from any other state in the federation including its neighbour sarawak. However what i would like to ask is if under the Malaysia agreement there is written that the Borneo states can not seed from the federation. then please explain the recent cession of the off-shore petroleum block (block 21 if i am not mistaken). It is (was)part of the Sabah state. What exemption then was this part of the state ceeded under? Jeff what is your stnd on this issue. And again I ask you Datuk when the ROS has stated in the media that STAR is not registered as a political party in Sabah will this mean all your hard work and effort will be denied by the ROS albeat the SPR in denying your candidates to stand. What is your position on this? As an election observer if PKR can not come up with a formula to share the KDM seats with a local political party (not necessarily STAR) it will lose and only split the Malay votes with mostly the foreign imported votes going to UMNO BN and the local Malay votes to PKR. The KDM and Chinese votes if not consolidated will only bring a win to the BN but not by local but foreign voting which in observer terms means at last the foreigners have more voting power than all the locals combined in Sabah which has been all along the federal BN objective to render obsolete and ineffective the power of the KDM vote with that of the chinese.

  3. HAPPY SARAWAK INDEPENDENCE DAY 22 JULY 1963!

    (Part 1)

Fellow Sarawakians today, on the date we were “freed” from British colonial domination and rule in 1963.

For these 34 days we were the nominal master of our destiny. But how quickly this freedom was taken away by the same colonial master.

Within 34 days on 16 September 1963 we lost that “independence” which we hardly sniffed at.
On this independence day we should at least be aware that we are not really independent yet. Many are deluded by the British/Malayan imposed “independence in Malaysia”.

We lost all the rights we would have if we had that independence starting with control of our destiny and resources. We never saw any of the most important parts of the 18 Points complied with by Malayan UMNO.

So what does 34 days of freedom meant to us?

    TRANSITION TO MALAYAN COLONIZATION
It was just a transition into a new phase of colonial rule by the new brown skin colonial masters called UMNO BN within the neo-colonial structure of Malaysia. Sabah and Sarawak were simply annexed by Malaya in 1963! We became doubly burdened with colonialism and the UMNO Malay supremacist system under which institutionalised the apartheid NEP.

What else did we get from this “Malaysia” bargain? We were GUARANTEED and promised and re-assured that we would have “security prosperity and progress” with “self-rule” and Borneonisation.

Instead everyday we are paying a very high price to be in “Malaysia” and getting back virtually nothing of value. We even have to beg Kuala Lumpur to give back some of our own oil money for “development”.

We got robbed blind by UMNO BN of our oil and gas and stripped bare our timberland with all its rich resources with the collaboration of the local traitor regime over 48 years. This is “colonialism”.

This reality has hit hard not just the intellectuals but common people in their hundreds of thousands that the fake independence in Sarawak has brought more poverty and suffering which the grand promises of “Malaysia” said would be eradicated.

The situation in Sabah is replicated and made worse but the overwhelming invasion of “illegals” allowed under PM Mahathir’s rule as a form of political leverage for votes and a source of cheap labour to exploit our land and resources.

    MALAYSIA IS A FAILURE
The UMNO BN breaches of the Sarawak 18 Points and Sabah 20 Points agreements is seen in the long list of failures of the British/Malayan idea for us but a great success for Malayans who developed Malaya by stealing our resources.

In the past 49 years corrupt rulers like Mahathir and his cronies, Sarawak PBB BN Taib & Co and Sabah BN leaders enriched themselves at our expense beyond our dreams from their abuse of power and corruption.

There is an great up swell of anger spreading amongst the people everywhere especially the thousands of dispossessed NCR people about their woes in “Malaysia” and against the system that caused their sufferings.

On this day we need to sit up and ask ourselves what and why are we still hanging on to the Malaysia illusion? Instead should we not do something to get us out of this predicament?

250,000 PEOPLE DEMAND REVIEW OF MALAYSIA AGREEMENT
In Sabah over 230,000 people have signed a petition to demand a review of the Malaysia Agreement supported by 27,500 signatures from Sarawak and over Malayan 5000 signatures. The last time a review was called for in 1973 it was flatly rejected by PM Abdul Razak, Najib’s father. So will the son ignore our demands?

This petition for a review is supposed to be presented to the British government and or through a legal review in the British courts. It would be more useful to present the signatures as a demand for de-colonization at the United Nations. Can we still trust the UK government not to mention the United Nations? They both sanctioned the imposition of Malaysia of Sabah and Sarawak

  4. HAPPY SARAWAK INDEPENDENCE DAY 22 JULY 1963!

    (Part 1)

OVER 250,000 PEOPLE DEMAND REVIEW OF MALAYSIA AGREEMENT
    (cont'd from above)

This petition for a review is supposed to be presented to the British government and or through a legal review in the British courts. It would be more useful to present the signatures as a demand for de-colonization at the United Nations. Can we still trust the UK government not to mention the United Nations? They both sanctioned the imposition of Malaysia of Sabah and Sarawak.

As part of this review it should be raised that the Malaysia Agreement is not binding because the “Malaysia concept” of 4 equal partners had broken down and therefore no longer binding on the parties. There are 2 aspects of this breakdown.

BREAKDOWN OF 5-NATION MALAYSIA CONCEPT & RATIONALES
The first aspect is that “original” Malaysia concept was a federation of an equal partnership of 4 independent states.

This changed in 1965 when Singapore left the federation. However, the constitutional power arrangement was re-engineered in favour of Malaya by UMNO unilaterally to give it power to dominate Sabah and Sarawak. So at the beginning the partnership understandings and agreements
    were breached by Malayan UMNO.

In fact the “real” original concept included Brunei in a federation of 5 equal independent states and this was the idea the British and Malayans first proposed. Brunei chose not to be in Malaysia when the sultan was made aware that UMNO wanted only to control Brunei oil and was so greedy that they would not even consider giving the Sultan the concession of becoming Head of State.

The second aspect is that UMNO breach of all the guarantees and rights in the 18 and 20 Points Agreement incorporated the Malaysia Agreement. These are the terms and conditions of Sabah and Sarawak becoming equal partners of the federation.

A third argument that has not been pursued is that the “Malaysia federation” idea had been bi-laterally imposed on Sabah and Sarawak by Britain and Malaya with great undue political pressure and armed force and the rationales pushed by the 2 governments to justify Malaysia

This process of setting up “Malaysia” was legitimized with a highly questionable “enquiry” on the people’s wishes and then suppression of the Brunei anti-Malaysia independence Uprising . The resistance against Malaysia had continued in the Sarawak guerrilla war from 1962 to 1990. Despite such strong expressions of opposition Malaysia was then legitimized with a hilly questionable “enquiry” on the people’s wishes and later sanctioned by the United Nations.

GOPETITION FOR SABAH SARAWAK TO LEAVE MALAYSIA
There is also a “GoPetition” campaign to take Sabah and Sarawak out of Malaysia on the internet by the London based Sabah & Sarawak Keluar Malaysia movement (SSKM).

The SSKM has organised the commemoration of Sarawak Independence Day in London, Kuching and many Sarawak towns, in Kuala Lumpur and even Dubai.

On this day we should all think seriously about the next 50 years. Should we choose to stay or choose to take our country out of Malaysia?

That choice is for each of us to make regardless of elections. We can use the elections to vote out UMNO BN as a registration of our protest and aspiration to be free from foreign domination.

If the Malaysia Agreement is not binding on Sabah and Sarawak then we should be able to walk free. But with the Malayan colonial government and occupation army in actual control of Sabah and Sarawak, we should be demanding withdrawal of the Malayan army and de-colonization at the UN instead of gathering signatures to seek a review with the British government.

If we are determined and united as a force we can free ourselves from foreign Malayan UMNO colonial domination.

Today raise the Sarawak Flag and fly the Malayan colonial flag upside down!
