KOTA KINABALU: Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) deputy president Datuk Dr Yee Moh Chai (pic) is the state’s new Deputy Chief Minister, giving the party its second DCM post in the Sabah Cabinet.
Chief Minister Datuk Musa Aman, who announced this on Wednesday, did not make any other changes to his line-up.
Dr Yee, 55, replaces Datuk Peter Pang En Yin.
Pang, who quit the LDP to join Gerakan earlier this month, remained the state Youth and Sports Minister.
Dr Yee, who was chosen to represent Sabah’s Chinese community, also kept his position as the state Resource Development and Information Technology Minister.
PBS president Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan is the other DCM from the party. He represents the state’s non-Muslim bumiputras.
“There is no problem in having two deputy chief ministers from the PBS,” Musa said, after chairing the state Cabinet meeting.
He added that he had informed Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak about Dr Yee's appointment.
